Beerthusiasts! Lend me your palates for I am about to shower you all with some more beery goodness..

We’ve got another few breweries we’re featuring for the first time (The Mill, Wild Life Brewing Co. and The Boys Brewing), the return of some old favourites (a seasonal release from the crew at Otherside Brewing Co.) and exciting new beers from Little Bang, AVNGE and Akasha.

As always, I’d love to hear what you think about the cube contents, what you’d like to see in future cubes or any breweries that you think we should hit up - feel free to sling me an email at cheers@mrmods.beer or tag us in your IG posts (@mrmods.beer).

Mad love and thanks for the support.

Tasting Notes

AVNGE Brewing - Hella Dank DIPA 8% ABV

Suggested Glass - IPA Glass Serving Temp - 6-8°

What they say - Loaded with mosaic, simcoe and strata hops, this DIPA is powered by American pale, crystal and rye malt. Like a giant bear shooting lazers out of its eyes, this one packs a punch!

What we say - Pouring an amazing almost amber colour with a glorious white head, this beast will intoxicate you with its piney/slight citrus aroma. Dangerously well balanced with a nice subtle dankness without being too overpowering and a mild sweetness from the 8%ABV - this is the DIPA of Autumn…perfect for those cooler afternoons and evenings.

Akasha x Reckless Brewing - NAS XPA 4.2% ABV

Suggested Glass - Pint Glass Serving Temp - 4-6°

What they say - A wondrous weave of stonefruit and tropical fruit flavours, crafted into an immediately enjoyable, immensely satisfying, incredibly easy-going XPA that tells its own story beautifully. At 4.2% it’s breezy and lovely, brewed from Lupomax Amarillo and Lupomax Ekuanot for super-smashable lupulin flavours atop a malt base that lets the hops do all the talking.

What we say - NAS XPA is a super smashable drop loaded with tropical and stone fruit flavours and a well balanced malt profile. Extremely approachable with a nice dry body, you can enjoy this and pretend its still summer as it’s raining outside.

Wile Life Brewing Co. - Aussie Session Ale 4% ABV

Suggested Glass - Pint Glass Serving Temp - 4-6°

What they say - If you love a pale ale, XPA or even just something slightly hoppy, then you will love our Aussie Session Ale. We crafted this beer for the knock-off beer drinker.Easy going but still filled with flavour and character, it’s the perfect balance of something a little crafty but still approachable and built for the sesh. Biscuity malt backbone, smooth old school bitterness, refreshing citrusy hop finish, full strength flavour and ABV, amber colour and brewed in a modern XPA style.

What we say - The crew from Wild Life used lots of words to describe this beer extremely accurately, so I’ll try and do a TL:DR version. Amazing colour, stupidly well balanced and extremely sessionable. This would make a great introductory beer for the non craft drinker.

Wild Life Brewing Co - Dry Lager 4.6% ABV

Suggested Glass - Pilsner Glass Serving Temp - 3-4°

What they say - Crafted out of a thirst for a high-quality local beer with ultimate drinkability in mind. Craving a beer that’s smooth & simple? A beer that takes you back to your youth? A beer that listens & just gets you? Us too! That’s why we made our Dry Lager, a no-nonsense can of crispy mouth-watering goodness that just gets the job done. Nothing fancy here mate, just a damn clean beer.

What we say - Crisp, clean and with no frills - the gang at WL nailed their project brief with this one. So much so that there is nothing I can say that they haven’t - it’s just a nice, simple lager which will work with any occasion.

Little Bang Brewing - Sol Era 5.8% ABV

Suggested Glass -  Goblet/Tulip Glass Serving Temp - 6-8°

What they say - This beer took a trip around the sun in a barrel. Inside generations passed. Thriving, frothing communities of billions burst into life, then gradually subsided, mellowed and changed. The mixed sour culture that fermented this beer will live on in a new generation, with a portion of the original preserved and propagated into the next era. Batch #1 - Kriek This batch spent a year on whole Ceravolo Family Orchards cherries, taking on flavour, aroma, tannin structure and a startlingly vibrant colour.

What we say - Who doesn’t love a Kriek? For the uninitiated, a Kriek is a Belgian style beer aged on cherries. This drop pours a brilliant deep red colour and straight away you know you’re in for a treat. The cherries give a nice slight tartness and aroma that will have you yearning for more before you’ve even finished the first one!

Beer Soundtrack - Cause an Effect by No Fixed Abode

The Mill Brewery - Mosaic Pale Ale 5.1% ABV

Suggested Glass - Pint Glass Serving Temp - 4-6°

What they say - Our Mosaic Pale Ale is an American style pale ale, with a full body and medium bitterness. Brewed to showcase the Mosaic hop, it’s combined with Amarillo for a well balanced, classic American pale ale.

What we say - With a nice grassy/piney nose, this delivers a well balanced palate with lashings of pine, citrus and a decent bitterness to round it all out. This was my first experience drinking anything from the crew at the Mill and it’s safe to say it definitely won’t be my last.

The Mill Brewery - Freshest Haze Wet Hop Hazy IPA 7% ABV

Suggested Glass - IPA Glass Serving Temp - 6-8°

What they say - Our Freshest Haze IPA is made using fresh Galaxy hops - plump and resinous picked straight off the bone and used within days.

What we say - See? I told you that the Mosaic Pale wouldn’t be my last The Mill beer… This pours a nice pale yellow with a decent haze and delivers a tropical aroma as soon as you crack open the can. The fresh Galaxy hops bring a peach, passionfruit and citrus hit to the yard that will surely rival any milkshakes in the surrounding area.

Beer Soundtrack - Can I Kick It by A Tribe Called Quest

Otherside Brewing - Sabbath Pastry Stout 6.6% ABV

Suggested Glass - Tulip Glass Serving Temp - 8-10°

What they say - A decadent dessert stout.  Local coffee from roasters Little Owl compliments the choc and coffee flavours in the malt bill. Vanilla and lactose added post ferment delivers the perfect balance between big sweet flavours and gentle bitterness.

What we say - This is one of those yearly releases I always look forward to for two reasons. Firstly, it means dark beer weather is upon us! And secondly, it means it’s time for a new version of Otherside Brewing Co’s black, tasty goodness. With a body that is darker than the middle of the night, this has strong aromas of chocolate, coffee and  and vanilla. As it warms, expect a creamy mouthfeel with a rich toasty palate that has all of those aromas you experienced with a subtle yet noticeable bitterness. Kick back with this and just enjoy it as your night-cap while enjoying the musical stylings of the lord of darkness himself.

The Boys Brewing - Sunset Daze Hazy Pale 4.8% ABV

Suggested Glass - Pint Glass Serving Temp - 2-4°

What they say - Two years of planning and over two hundred lockdown beers later, The Boys Brewing was launched in December 2021. Brewed with the help of Killer Sprocket, the first beer out of the door is a nod to the times the lads spent together dreaming of better days ahead. Light 'n' breezy with gentle tropical characters dominating, the Sunset Daze flows with ripe pineapple, citrus and a touch of passionfruit. Carried by a light body that emanates a hazy, golden hue, though smooth in style, it's built around a firm, hop-derived flavours and bolstered by a touch of bitterness. Confucius once said, our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall. Forget about what's behind us, let's raise a glass of this Sunset to the strength that lies within us.

What we say - We were definitely excited to get this debut release in our latest cube! The days may be getting shorter, but the fine beers are still flowing. Loaded with tropical and citrus vibes and a colour akin to a summers eve sunset, if this is a sign of things to come then I’m super glad I’m on board.
